As Hopeful as Heartbreaking

COLLABORATIVE SPIRIT. Many individual International Cities of Peace communities are building networks that bring strong peace leaders together to work for the Good of All. One collaboration, in particular, is a profound case study — as heartbreaking as it is hopeful. In the largest toxic dump site in East Africa, thousands of children, nearly 300,000 population, live in the Dandora where the largest toxic dump in East Africa is near the center of Nairobi, Kenya. These children are risking illness, poverty and suffering. YET, the association of International Cities of Peace gently requested the five busy leaders of Cities of Peace in Dandora to work together, form a collaborative, put their spirits and good works in front of potential supporters. They did a fantastic job! They created the “Dandora Unity Action Plan” (front page shown here, available on our website) on what they need and how they can bring hundreds of children out of danger. Their need is huge; the commitment of these five Leaders is strong. Where are the supporters? The kids of the dump site are not waiting — going to school, learning, emerging from untold hardship. What could they do with your help? The courageous and committed Liaisons (leaders) of Dandora Cities of Peace 1,2,3,4 and 5 are: Dishon Otiende; Bonbian Onyango; Jane N. Mihango; Diana Jomo; and Dinah Atieno. We commend you and hope to help your find supporters. Onward with “Do for others as you would have them do for you”.
